I’ve been listening the the Savage Lovecast for years. In fact, after This American Life, it’s one of the first podcasts I started listening to regularly. If you’re not familiar with it, Dan Savage gives sex and relationship advice to callers on the weekly podcast. For a middle aged, cisgendered, straight lady, these calls are what one might call “eye opening”.
I’ve learned SO MUCH from this show – about love, sex, pleasure, relationships, kink, inclusion, sex work, politics, the list goes on and on. For the record, I DO NOT listen to this podcast around my kids, and I don’t recommend you do either. But you may find that listening makes you a better, more open, sex positive parent. In fact, I was truly surprised at some of the excellent parenting advice that I’ve gleaned over the years.
This is one of the few podcasts that I pay for. They offer a free micro version with ads and a magnum version that is ad free, twice as long, with regular expert guests. These guests are often the best part of the show and with the number of podcasts I consume, I relish the opportunity to skip another Squarespace or meal box kit advertisement. You might even consider gifting a subscription to your older, adult age children. It will likely embarrass and enlighten them at the same time, which is called a parenting win.
